Located in southern Salamanca, Sierra de Francia/Salamanca is a mosaic of terraced vineyards, granite soils and high‑altitude exposures. Winemakers here favor local varieties (notably Rufete) alongside Garnacha and Tempranillo, producing lighter, aromatic reds with freshness and complexity. The area’s villages, many with centuries of history, add cultural depth to any tasting itinerary.
Sierra de Francia has preserved much of its wine culture in small, family-run bodegas. The emphasis in winemaking is often on craftsmanship and local flavor rather than large‐scale production.
